I find it interesting that you advise me to stop and think before accusing people of something, when your whole website is based on looking for faults in someone else. I would not, out of ethical issues and possible legal issues, discuss the potential for fraud in taking possession of the body. Again, people involved in this process have not thought through the possibilities that may or may not happen. By your asking what could happen shows that lack of thought process. I don’t think I stated that it was a complicated process for the state employee. I just said that it takes more time than usual for the employee to complete the requrements that are completed by everyone else prior to the certification of the DC. Why should the state employee have to spend more time with a DIY’er and not be compensated when the rest of the state is required to use the electronic filing system? There is no law against such charges and no one is “taking advantage” of anyone. If anything, the DIY’er is relying on the state employee to teach them. I not sure, but I don’t think that is their job. There is NO correlation between how things were done a few years ago, and todays system. To compare them would be inaccurate in the work load necessary to do their jobs. For instance, a few years ago, they still didn’t have to fill out the death certificates for patrons. It was completed prior to filing the DC. Wow, the “legal interest in the deceased has been discharged”? That sounds interesting coming from a group that is all about caring for their loved ones. I’m an interested party in any group that takes fear mongering with the intention of making an industry seem like they are out for the worst. All your articles that I have read are surrounded with negativity toward good people, with good intentions, that conduct business. Maybe you could point me to the articles about what to expect will happen to an unrefrigerated, unembalmed body so that your DIY’er can be fully informed about what occurs. I don’t necessarily have a personal stake in this matter. I would just like to see facts given instead of anger and hate mongering. This should be a helpful, positive, informitive site instead of an build contention and hate toward the funeral industry site.
