Really? This is a complaint? As a former advertising executive AND an owner of funeral homes, I would like to make note of a few things. YES, there is brand recognition. Most of the said recognition is to HELP the reader identify which funeral provider is attached to respective obituaries. It’s more of an “ease of readership” than advertising. Most funeral homes don’t necessarily need to advertise in the obituaries. Their name is already there. Most people aren’t buying from a logo in the obits. Oh, and that Snickers bar you ate? Guess what…you PAID for the ink on the wrapper. You also paid for the badges all over your car. I truly hate when someone thinks he/she has discovered something epic, which ends up being idiotic, and runs with it. Sad, really. Tell me you didn’t post this on facebook. You did. Great.
