They’re choosing cremations over burials to cut costs
“There’s no question in the minds of funeral directors that these escalating burial fees certainly play a factor in the rising cremation rates,” [Phil] Douma [executive director of the Michigan Funeral Directors Association] said. “It’s a major, major issue with the cemetery industry, both private and municipal. Opening and closing the graves are an integral part of the business plan, and it’s really affecting the industry.”
