“Soaring Bird”, chief of the Southern Band of Cherokees transitioned Nov. 21, 2010. Randy was an artist and naturalist . He died at home in the morning and people gathered for his funeral at noon. His body was to be cremated in the next state the following day. It was not hard to do a home funeral (it’s legal in the state of Georgia), however it was very hard getting a local mortuary to cooperate by providing the required transport permit.
