YERINGTON, Nev. (KRNV & MyNews4.com) – The body of an indigent Lyon County man is in limbo, lying in a funeral home for three months. The issue is that he is in the country illegally and cannot qualify for government funds for cremation or burial.
Lyon County Public Administrator Delores Munro tells News 4, “From a human stand-point this is just not fair.” She says she is upset because the county is not paying for the cremation of one of their residents. Munro says, “I normally sign off on indigent cremations… there is an indigent fund set up for Lyon County residents.”
