As Abraham Lincoln once said, “The best way to get a bad law repealed is to enforce it strictly.” To arbitrarily deem a law outdated and unworthy, and therefore encourage law enforcement to ignore violations of said law is the path to Tyranny and chaos. Many of the issues our country is currently dealing with has ignoring the rule of law as the basis. You may not believe the referenced laws are good (they probably aren’t), you may believe they are outdated (they probably are) but the best way to deal with them is NOT to ignore them, but to have them removed from the register. Where does one draw the line in the decision on which law to enforce….tell me what laws are good…what laws are bad and I will show you a person who will argue the opposite. If the rule of law is not enforced, the people who are connected and in power will make decisions upon what to enforce and who will benefit. To me, the thought that ethics and the act of ignoring the rule of law do not seem to go together.
