I am a consumer. I sought this site in an effort to bring closure to a huge problem I have with a cemetery in Maryland. This cemetery was owned by Stewart Enterprises but was acquired by the even larger Service Corporation International. I prepaid for an in tandem mausoleum. I was shown a building that was exactly what I wanted. Eye level, indoor, in tandem, and in a building that was carpeted, had room for a service, electricity, air conditioning, etc. In 2009, I got a certified letter telling me the new buildings were ready for me to view, but that changes had to be made due to the artist’s rendering and that I would get a new and different deed. Bells went off! I drove out to the cemetery to find two buildings that were nothing in comparison to the model that was used to sell me on. In fact, the two buildings were mostly cremation boxes. I have been through the office of cemetery oversight. No help there! I called an attorney who deals with cemetery issues. He ended up being the cemetery’s attorney. My luck! He had the company authorize a refund that is nowhere near what I would have to pay in today’s prices. They knew they couldn’t build what I paid for, so they did a bait and switch. Now, I have nowhere to be buried near my relatives as all space there is full. If anyone has any suggestions, I may be contacted @ firstname.lastname@example.org or I may be reached at 443-806-2901.
