Wow! Just finished reading this whole thing and I’m just as torn as when I first started reading. My husband and I are still quite healthy and we travel domestically and internationally. I’ve always appreciated how my mother made all the final arrangements for her and my dad and all we had to do was make a phone call to their local funeral home. Mom and Dad were in their late 70’s and mid 80’s and not in good health so Mom knew they were basically home to stay and she had few worries about the local funeral home going out of business before their deaths. The problem I’m having is that we are healthy and active in our 60’s and I don’t trust a funeral home to still ‘be there’ 20 years from now when my kids may need to bury me. I was hoping the Neptune Society would be the answer to my concerns……after reading all this, I’m not so sure anymore.
