I am very appreciative of all the comments made on this post. It has truly enlightened me on a few things. I have worked as a commissioned cemetery sales rep for a private company for the last 10 months. I has been one of the most challenging positions I have had. I consider myself as an above average salesperson. However, I have struggled to make ends meet. I try different marketing strategies, ie: churches, trade shows, concerts, seminars, mall kiosk, etc. to generate leads. It is truly a challenge. The commission structure is fine. Its the challenge of getting people to talk about it and then spending the necessary money. It seems to be designed for those that sit and wait for the customers to walk through the door. Door to door , direct sales approach , I have not figured it out yet. I have not thrown in the towel. I am looking at trying to work with the families that have experienced a recent loss. Like family service reps do. I am going through the papers to identify them.
