When my husband died the hospital request the body be moved within hours, so they do not refrigeration the body until the funeral home retrieve it. When a death occur the family often was not expected it and many time is at a loss on what steps to take. I was bless to have been directed to a funeral home that did have refrigeration to allow me time to decide on what funeral arrangements would be best for the family. Some family may have relatives that purchase insurance that has a 2 year waiting clause, and the funeral home will not accept them because they know they will not pay face value. Therefore family member must come up with funds to pay the cost. Embalming is not free and must be pay for by family if no insurance coverage. Refrigeration at funeral home would help.
