A person, regardless of their final arrangements, will never know if their final wishes for burial were carried out per their request. When a person breathes their last breath, God, who breathed life into them, immediately receives their spirit. A dead body knows nothing and feels nothing..ever. At that instant, a physical body begins it’s return to what it was created from…dust. No matter if you’re cremated, buried in a mausoleum or in the ground inside a casket, your body will eventually turn to dust…whether a year, ten years, 100 years or 1000 years. I hope that one day people will begin to understand and move away from practices that do nothing but cause monumental waste. The United States is one of very few countries that sell and use burial vaults, grave liners, etc. The average funeral is between 7-10 thousand dollars for embalming chemicals , makeup and a bunch of stuff that is going to be buried in a hole or cemented in a wall and never seen again. This is why I’ve chosen to have a green burial. I’ll be wrapped in some type of biodegradable covering and directly buried in the ground. No harmful embalming chemicals, no steel and concrete, no huge bill from the funeral home! Do a search for how much wood, steel, aluminum and concrete have been buried…you’ll be blown away.
