October 19th 2022
From the President of FCA National: Katherine Ortiz
To Affiliates and Consumers,
The board of FCA National Board of Trustees met on Tuesday Oct 18th and some important decisions were made concerning the Executive Director for FCA National.
As you know Josh Slocum resigned from this position, and the board accepted his resignation. The board and Josh came to an agreement that included he will stay on as ED until December 31st 2022. This allows time for him to work with the board (and Nastassia, Administrative Assistant) to complete specific tasks that need to be addressed before his departure. Also this allows time for him to train an interim ED.
At the board meeting, the board voted in an interim ED, Marjorie Focarazzo. Marjorie was the FCA Secretary until this meeting. Marjorie will resign from the board (effective immediately), and start working with Josh to train for the interim ED position. The time frame for her to be in this position will be determined by Marjorie and the board at a later date, and when the time is right, the board will enact a national search for a permanent Executive Director.
There are a lot of moving parts concerning these changes. The board, along with Josh, Nastassia, and Marjorie will be working together through all of these transitions going forward. We appreciate the support from all of the affiliates and consumers. FCA will continue to support and help consumers in their end of life decisions for themselves and their loved ones.
Thank you again for your support,
FCA National President
